Results of the production and financial-economic activities of the unions and enterprises and the objectives standing ahead have been widely discussed during the meeting held under the chairmanship of the Minister Yavar Jamalov.

The Chair of the meeting Yavar Jamalov noted that our country has been steadily increasing its power and international prestige by securing stability and carrying out gradual economic reforms in spite of the ongoing in the world unfavorable economic conditions and occurring of regional armed conflicts and bloody terrorist attacks. As a result of the resolute home and foreign policy followed by the Head of State, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev our country has achieved great success in political, economic and military spheres.

It was also noted that during the reporting period as a result of the purposeful measures carried out at the Ministry"s facilities the work was in progress on setting up new production sites to manufacture defence products in accordance with the program.    

During the reporting period work was in progress to carry out the program for the current year, defense products on contracts with the republic’s security and law-enforcement agencies were manufactured and supplied to the customer. Works on broadening of production of civilian products were also in progress.

During 9 months of 2016, 81% of products manufactured at the Ministry’s facilities was for defence and other special purposes and 19% for civilian use. As compared to the relevant period of the previous year the total volume of manufactured and handed over to the customer defence products raised by 17,6 %, its nomenclature more than doubled  and manufacture of products for civilian use raised by 8,2%.

During the reporting period R&D were continued on 115 topics and 198 stages, in accordance with the production plan for 2016.  In the current year the R&D on 14 topics in accordance with the state order are being in progress in the Research Institute of the Ministry. During three meetings of Sections of the functioning in the ministry Scientific-Technical Counsel, discussions were held on specified in the plan topics and concrete decisions have been taken.    

During the reporting period the military-technical cooperation of the ministry with the enterprises and organizations of the defense-industrial complexes of the advanced countries of the world is being in progress to timely achieve the set goals.

At the meeting was highlighted the high level organization of the 2-nd Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition “ADEX-2016” by the Ministry of Defence Industry which has been joining the international exhibitions since 2009.

The 2-nd Azerbaijan International Defence Exhibition “ADEX-2016” held at Baku Expo Center on 27-30 September of this year on the initiative of the Ministry of Defence Industry was joined by about 250 companies from 44 countries of the world.

The novelties of the defence industry have been exposed in Azerbaijan national hall covering the area of 1000 sq.m..

“ADEX-2014” the first Azerbaijan International Defence exhibition held in Azerbaijan two years ago was joined by the Ministry of Defence Industry with exposition of 168 defense products whereas at “ADEX-2016” it presented 260.

Out of products exposed by the Ministry of Defence Industry at “ADEX-2016” the most interest of the exhibition participants and visitors was attracted to the mine protected armored vehicles “Ildirim” and “Gasirgha”, the latest advanced types of UAVs,  produced by “Azad Systems” enterprise, new models of small arms, special reconnaissance patrol vehicle “Gurza”, fitted with antitank guided missiles, ammunition and their warheads, etc. 

Within the frame of the exhibition negotiations have been held on different areas of military-technical cooperation along with discussions of issues relating to implementation of new projects.

During the event, a Memorandum has been signed between the Ministry of Defence Industry and the Ministry of Defence on production of new model of kamikadze “Zarba” and reconnaissance and observation drones and their handing to the Armed forces for adoption.

Attendance of “ADEX-2016” by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander in-Chief Ilham Aliyev and other state and government officials attached great significance to the event.

The high level organization of the exhibition and the exposition of defence products manufactured by the enterprises of the Ministry of Defence Industry will contribute to day after day strengthening the defence power of our state and to becoming the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan one of the powerful armies in the region.  

Reports of the directors of the unions and enterprises were heard out at the meeting.

Minister Yavar Jamalov stressed his positive appreciation of work done within the reporting period in the subordinated unions and enterprises of the Ministry.

The minister has given special tasks to the directors of the unions and enterprises voiced by the Republic President Ilham Aliyev for the development of the defence industry.
